Elle poursuit ses \u00e9tudes \u00e0 la Facult\u00e9 de musique de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al, o\u00f9 elle obtient son baccalaur\u00e9at.<\/p>\n<p>Au cours des ann\u00e9es suivantes, Chantal De Villiers se produit dans toutes sortes d\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nements, dans diff\u00e9rentes formations, en duos, trios, quatuors et quintettes. La musique \u00e9tant une force majeure dans sa famille, la relation musicale qu\u2019elle d\u00e9veloppe avec son p\u00e8re l\u2019aide \u00e0 trouver son style. Le son riche et feutr\u00e9 de son saxophone rappelle les grands ma\u00eetres du jazz qui l\u2019ont influenc\u00e9, tels que Dexter Gordon, Ben Webster, Scott Hamilton, Stan Getz, Eddie Harris et Gene Ammons.<\/p>\n<p>Funky Princess alias Chantal De Villiers pr\u00e9sentera une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de pi\u00e8ces musicales choisies en fonction des \u201cgrooves\u201d inspir\u00e9s des ann\u00e9es 70 et de son album Funky Princess. Elle ajoutera \u00e9galement de nouvelles compositions \u00e0 son r\u00e9pertoire avec son quatuor Taurey Butler au piano, Ira Coleman \u00e0 la basse et Rich Irwin \u00e0 la batterie.<\/p>\n<p>A tenor saxophonist with an exceptional sound, a sensitive approach and an innate sense of musical language, Chantal De Villiers was born in Montreal into a family of musicians. Her father, a professional pianist, exposed her to music at an early age. She chose to play the tenor saxophone at the age of 15. She continued her studies at the Faculty of Music of the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al, where she obtained her Bachelor\u2019s degree.<\/p>\n<p>During the following years, Chantal De Villiers performed in all kinds of events, in different formations, in duos, trios, quartets and quintets. Music being a major force in her family, the musical relationship she developed with her father helped her find her style. The rich and muffled sound of her saxophone is reminiscent of the great jazz masters who have influenced her, such as Dexter Gordon, Ben Webster, Scott Hamilton, Stan Getz, Eddie Harris and Gene Ammons.<\/p>\n<p>Funky princess alias Chantal De Villiers will present a variety of songs chosen according to the grooves inspired by the 70\u2019s and her album Funky Princess.
